Gwangyang-si, Going-to-You Promotional Marketing to Attract Tourists
Suncheon, Yeosu and Nearby Local Governments Operate Mobile Tourist Information Centers on the Ground
Comprehensive Marketing Including Travel Expo Participation and SNS Events
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seonsik] Jeonnam Gwangyang Tourism is showing rapid progress in recovering the tourism market and creating a new normal tourism ecosystem in line with the implementation of With Corona.
The city, together with the Gwangyang City Tourism Council, has launched on-the-go Gwangyang tourism promotions by operating mobile tourist information centers in densely populated areas of nearby local governments such as Suncheon and Yeosu.
The mobile tourist information center is an integrated marketing promotion tool equipped with a screen that can play promotional videos and various advertisements, wrapped with Gwangyang’s tourism image on the vehicle.
The city screened promotional videos created with lively rap and trendy images showcasing Gwangyang’s attractions, while distributing promotional leaflets such as "10 Reasons to Visit Gwangyang" and "Wise Gwangyang Travel in the Corona Era."
Items such as masks and wet wipes featuring the emotionally rich Gwangyang tourism slogan and BI also received a good response, enhancing the image of the tourism city.
In the With Corona era, as alternative tourism such as ecology and nature rises and recently opened attractions like Baealdo Island Garden and Star Counting Bridge gain attention, the city plans to continuously promote marketing emphasizing Gwangyang’s unique content.
Also, reflecting the trend of preferring short-distance daily tourism, the city plans to target nearby cities rather than distant metropolitan areas, and conduct on-site marketing at representative tourist spots within concentrated tourist areas such as Baealdo to meet visitors directly.
Park Soon-gi, Director of Tourism, said, “The era of sitting and waiting for tourists to come is over,” adding, “We will actively promote the charm of Gwangyang tourism by going directly to the field and meeting potential tourists.”
He further expressed his ambition, saying, “We will continuously discover With Corona customized tourism courses to prepare for new travel patterns such as individual and small group travel.”
Meanwhile, the city is participating in the ‘2021 NaeNara Travel Expo’ held for four days from November 18, conducting marketing targeting the new tourism market in the With Corona era, and intensifying all-round promotions including official Gwangyang Instagram SNS events.
