Hansung Cleantec Attends Groundbreaking Ceremony as National Project Operator for Ultrapure Water Demonstration Plant
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] E&C Corporation announced on the 17th that its water treatment EPC subsidiary Hanseong Cleantec attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the national project of a demonstration plant for high-purity industrial water for semiconductors on the 16th.
The event was hosted by the Ministry of Environment and organized by K-water and the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute. It was held at the SK Siltron production plant in Gumi.
The project titled "Development of Integrated Domestic Technology for Design, Construction, and Operation of High-Purity Industrial Water" was promoted as one of the measures in response to Japan's export restrictions in 2019. It was selected as a national project last July to develop technology (R&D) for producing and supplying high-purity industrial water required in semiconductor processes using domestic technology.
The total budget is 48 billion KRW, with five detailed tasks assigned until 2025: three for domestic demonstration plant projects, one for performance verification, and one for improving wastewater reuse rates. Hanseong Cleantec is responsible for the integrated domestic technology development task for design, construction, and operation of high-purity industrial water (ultrapure water) and is expected to build a demonstration plant with a daily capacity of 2,400 tons. The budget allocated to Hanseong Cleantec is 33.7 billion KRW out of the total 48 billion KRW.

Lee Jung-seop, CEO of Hanseong Cleantec, stated, "Over the past 10 years, the construction performance of ultrapure water production facilities amounts to 217 billion KRW, demonstrating sufficient technological capability," adding, "We will achieve technological independence by domesticating all stages from design to construction in a short period." He further added, "We plan to make our best efforts to secure the nation's water industry competitiveness."
