Prime Minister's Commendation Goes to Beautiful Mind
Calligrapher Ha Gwansoo receives the Grand Prize at the Korea Disabled Culture and Arts Awards. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold the Korea Disabled Culture and Arts Awards on the afternoon of the 17th at the G-Tower Convention. Ha, who won the highest honor, is a physically disabled person recognized for his calligraphy skills. He received the Excellence Award in Literati Painting at the 2010 Korea Calligraphy Festival National Writing Competition and was selected in the Literati Painting category at this year's Korea Art Exhibition. He has also contributed to nurturing successors and volunteering, improving awareness toward disabled artists.

Beautiful Mind, a music education and performance organization for the disabled, receives the Prime Minister's Commendation (Excellence Award). Their charitable performances visiting culturally marginalized groups played a significant role. The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Commendations go to Kang Seongjae, Lee Kwangsoo, Kim Sangheon, and Handspeak respectively. Kang has contributed to regional cultural development through 35 years of work as a poet. Lee won the gold medal at this year's Gyeonggi-do Disabled Skills Competition, expanding the scope of craft culture with outstanding craft skills. Kim is a visually impaired piano performer who won first place in the chamber music category at the 2019 Youngsan Music Competition and was selected as a Kim Sunwook Masterclass scholarship student at the 2019 Pyeongchang Daegwallyeong Music Festival. Handspeak is the only deaf culture arts company in Korea, producing content using sign language and actively supporting the activities of deaf artists.
