Chonnam National University Achieves Success with Awards in 8 Categories at Honam Cybersecurity Conference

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] The Graduate School of Convergence Security at Chonnam National University announced on the 16th that it won awards in 8 categories at the Honam Cybersecurity Conference held over two days on the 4th and 5th at the National Asia Culture Center.
This conference was co-hosted by Gwangju Metropolitan City, the Honam Branch of the Korea Institute of Information Security & Cryptology, the National Intelligence Service branch, and Korea Electric Power Corporation, and jointly organized by Chonnam National University and Dongshin University.
Graduate student Lim Soo-min from the Graduate School of Convergence Security at Chonnam National University won the Grand Prize in the university division of the Energy Convergence Security Competition (Chairman Award of the Korea Power Exchange), Hwang Sun-hong received the Excellence Award (President Award of KEPCO KDN), and Kim Hyun-jin received the Encouragement Award (Chairman Award of the Honam Branch of the Institute).
In the power sector of the fall academic conference, which received a total of 56 papers, student Shin Dong-hyuk won the Grand Prize (President Award of KEPCO KPS), and students Lee Ji-won (Oral Presentation Excellence Award), Shin Mi-joo (Power Sector Excellence Award - Chairman Award of the Honam Branch), Kim Sa-yeon (Poster Excellence Award - Chairman Award of the Honam Branch), and Jo Heon-jun (Excellent Paper Award) also joined the list of awardees.
Meanwhile, the Graduate School of Convergence Security at Chonnam National University will open applications for the second round of admissions for the first semester of 2022 from December 1 to 15, and plans to provide approximately 17 million KRW per person annually, including registration, for full-time students.
This conference was composed of various events such as the Energy Convergence Security Competition, Web Vulnerability Analysis Debate, Fall Academic Conference, and Information Security Workshop under the theme of "Information Security Technology Exchange of Public Institutions in the Honam Region and Paradigm Shift in Regional Information Security."
The event was attended by key figures including Lee Yong-seop, Mayor of Gwangju, Lee Kang-rae, Vice President of Chonnam National University, Ryu Jae-chul, President of the Korea Institute of Information Security & Cryptology, along with local governments of Gwangju, Jeonnam, and Jeonbuk, national and public institutions, universities, middle and high school students, and information security companies.
