[Breaking] Biden and Xi Jinping Begin First Summit Meeting... Discuss Trade and Taiwan Issues
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suhwan] The curtain has risen on the first summit meeting between U.S. President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The video conference began at around 7:45 PM U.S. time on the 15th, which corresponds to 8:45 AM Chinese time on the 16th.
This summit is the first to be held since President Biden took office 10 months ago in January.
With competition between the U.S. and China intensifying more than ever, global attention is focused on the fact that the two leaders are meeting for the first time.
They are reported to discuss issues such as the U.S.-China trade dispute, the Taiwan issue, human rights, and cooperation on climate change response during the meeting.
