Ministry of Culture and Tourism Corporation Host 'Tourism Enterprise Connection Week' Supporting Tourism Ventures
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization announced that they will hold the ‘2021 Tourism Connect Week’ both online and offline from the 16th to the 19th.
This event, held for the first time this year, combines previously separate exchange events such as local government briefings and product fairs into a week-long event. It was organized to support the recovery of the tourism industry, which has been stagnated due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, and to lay the foundation for the tourism industry’s leap forward. It aims to open new markets for tourism venture companies and promote collaboration among key players in the tourism ecosystem, including travel agencies, local governments, and related organizations.
The event offers a variety of programs such as one-on-one online briefings (meetups) so participants can freely meet and conduct business with traditional and innovative companies, large and small tourism companies even in a non-face-to-face environment; demonstrations (demo days) for local governments, travel industry, and investors; overseas investment consultations; exhibitions and experiences; and voluntary exchanges. About 230 organizations including domestic and international tourism venture companies, travel industry, and local governments are expected to participate. In particular, many companies engaged in diverse tourism businesses such as experiential content companies and technology innovation companies will join, creating a lively exchange platform.
First, the ‘one-on-one online briefing’ where tourism venture companies, travel industry, local governments, and investors seek business opportunities through consultations will be held on the official website from the 16th to the 19th. On the 17th and 18th, the ‘Global Corporate Investment Briefing’ will be conducted online, where 16 promising tourism venture companies aiming for overseas expansion will hold consultations with buyers and investors from overseas regions such as the United States, Europe, Japan, and Southeast Asia to attract overseas investment and promote market entry.
In line with the phased recovery of daily life, on-site events such as the ‘Tourism Venture Company Demonstration,’ product exhibitions, and roundtable meetings will be held at the Seoul Community House Masil from the 16th to the 18th.
The tourism venture company demonstration will be held for local governments on the 16th and for the travel industry on the 17th. At the demonstration, 15 tourism venture companies selected through preliminary rounds will introduce their businesses, propose collaborations, and then consult and exchange ideas with local government or travel industry officials. On the 18th, the ‘Corporate Investment Briefing’ will actively support tourism venture companies’ investment attraction activities.
A space introducing the representative products of tourism venture companies will also be operated. Visitors can directly experience tourism services utilizing innovative technologies such as intelligent (smart) foreign currency management and ICT-based non-powered racing amusement parks, and encounter tourism products and services that practice Environment, Social responsibility management, and Governance (ESG), including outdoor-centered travel products.
More detailed information about the event and participating companies can be found on the official website.
