Muan-gun Operates Tourism Idea Camp at Muan Hwangto Getbeol Land

Over 60 Students from 6 Universities Participate... Discovering Muan Tourism Project

[Muan＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] From the 10th to the 12th, Muan County in Jeonnam operated the ‘2021 Hwangto Project IN Muan Tourism Idea Camp’ at Muan Hwangto Mudflat Land, with the participation of about 60 students from six universities including Mokpo National University LINC＋ Project Group, Mokpo National University, Mokpo Maritime University, Chodang University, Suncheon National University, Jeonnam National University, and Chungang University.

According to the county on the 15th, this event was prepared for university students to plan projects on Muan’s tourism resources by themselves and to derive various solutions for revitalizing the local economy.

The students participating in the camp stayed in Muan for 2 nights and 3 days, produced videos and sculptures themed on Muan’s representative resources such as mudflats, hwangto (yellow soil), octopus, and local festivals through specialized mentoring in each field, and carried out report writing and team presentations.

Through evaluation, nine excellent works were selected, and prize money was awarded as follows: Grand Prize (1 work) 1.2 million KRW, Excellence Award (1 work) 1 million KRW, Merit Award (3 works) 600,000 KRW each, and Encouragement Award (4 works) 300,000 KRW each.

The awarded works will be exhibited from the 1st of next month at major tourist sites in Muan County and at the Mokpo National University LINC＋ Project Group.

County Governor Kim San said, “This idea camp provided an opportunity to present creative ideas in the tourism sector and to spread the core competencies of universities within the region,” adding, “We will continue to actively discover and promote the various charms of Muan in cooperation with local universities.”
