The 27th Korean Air Travel Photo Contest Held... Applications Open Next Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Korean Air announced on the 15th that it will accept entries for the "27th Korean Air Travel Photo Contest" from the 1st to the 24th of next month.
The Korean Air Travel Photo Contest, the most prestigious amateur photography competition in Korea, receives high-quality photo works every year capturing beautiful domestic and international scenery, natural environments, and sincere scenes of life.
The theme for the general category of this contest is "Works that capture joyful and beautiful travel memories and evoke the desire to visit those places." The contest seeks travel-themed works that satisfy both the thirst for travel caused by COVID-19 and the anticipation for travel in the upcoming phased recovery era, inspiring viewers to want to visit those destinations. The special category calls for works depicting "My Own Daily Travel," which helped endure the COVID-19 era's new normal where everyday life becomes travel.
The contest is open to anyone, domestic or foreign, who loves travel and photography, and only unpublished works from Korea or abroad are eligible. For the general category, entries can be submitted by uploading image files on the travel photo contest website or by mail, while the special category allows anyone to freely submit works via the contest website or their personal Instagram. The winning works will be selected by a panel of expert judges composed of photography professors and photographers. A total of 61 winners will be chosen: 1 Grand Prize, 1 Gold Prize, 2 Silver Prizes, 6 Bronze Prizes, 40 Honorable Mentions, and 11 Special Category winners (1 Grand Prize, 10 Honorable Mentions). The Grand Prize winner will receive round-trip international and domestic Prestige class airline tickets, and all winners will be awarded plaques and airline tickets.

The announcement of the winners is scheduled for the last week of January 2022, and due to COVID-19, no separate award ceremony will be held. The winning works will be exhibited online on the travel photo contest website.
