Foreigners Maintain Net Buying Strength for 3 Consecutive Trading Days
[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Both the KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets opened slightly higher, supported by foreign buying.
On the 15th, the KOSPI opened at 2,989.68, up 0.70% (20.88 points) from the previous trading day. As of 9:21 a.m., it was recorded at 2,984.16.
By investor type, foreigners were net buyers of 43.6 billion KRW, while individuals and institutions were net sellers of 4.2 billion KRW and 34.4 billion KRW, respectively.
More sectors rose than fell. Several sectors rose more than 1%, including Medical Precision (2.68%), Pharmaceuticals (2.68%), Electric & Electronics (1.24%), and Non-metallic Minerals (1.23%). Meanwhile, Electric & Gas (-0.169%), Chemicals (-0.89%), and Banks (-0.85%) declined.
Most of the top 10 market capitalization stocks were also on the rise. Celltrion showed the largest increase at 9.37%, followed by SK Hynix (3.76%), Samsung Biologics (3.36%), Kakao (1.18%), Samsung Electronics (0.85%), Kia (0.35%), Hyundai Motor (0.24%), and NAVER (0.12%). LG Chem (-1.55%) and Samsung SDI (-0.13%) fell.
The KOSDAQ opened at 1,016.35, up 0.72% (7.28 points) from the previous trading day. It continued to gain, reaching 1,021.77 as of 9:21 a.m.
In the KOSDAQ market, individuals were the sole net buyers with 78.4 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions were net sellers of 45.1 billion KRW and 30.8 billion KRW, respectively.
Most sectors were on the rise. Distribution (4.64%), Pharmaceuticals (2.62%), Semiconductors (2.06%), and Telecommunications Equipment (1.94%) stood out. Broadcasting Services (-0.58%) and Telecommunications Broadcasting Services (-0.17%) declined.
Most of the top market capitalization stocks were rising. Celltrion Pharm and Celltrion Healthcare stood out with increases of 13.78% and 8.07%, respectively. They were followed by L&F (3.44%), Pearl Abyss (3.00%), HLB (2.80%), EcoPro BM (1.12%), Kakao Games (0.93%), and Wemade (0.90%). SK Materials (-0.90%) and CJ ENM (-0.77%) declined.
