On the evening of the 13th, during a talk show of the 'Myeongsim Camp' with local engaged couples at the Okgae Beach Auto Camping Site in Geoje City, Gyeongnam Province, candidate Lee called his wife Kim. Kim answered the call, and when Lee said, "I'm glad you answered on the second try," the two burst into laughter.
When an attendee asked Kim, "Are you okay where you were hurt?" she replied, "I'm fine. Sorry for causing you concern." She continued, "After getting injured, I realized how wonderful it is to have a husband who takes care of me like this," and added, "I'll share a secret. I fainted for a moment, and when I opened my eyes, my husband was crying. It was touching," she recalled.

Candidate Lee said, "At night, she (Kim) went to the bathroom, and suddenly there was a bang," adding, "(My wife) lost consciousness. My life flashed before my eyes." He said, "After starting my law practice, I had dreams, and pursuing those dreams was tough," and added, "She was the third one. The moment I saw her, I thought, 'I have to marry her.'"
Before the call, Lee said, "Originally, I was going to do a video call, but now (she has stitches above her eyebrow)," and joked, "There are rumors that I hit her." He continued, "It seems someone deliberately spread that rumor," and said, "Within a few hours, it was spread nationwide via messenger."

Meanwhile, former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon shared an article reporting the call between candidate Lee and Kim on his Facebook the next day, writing, "Melodrama. Another touching, emotional moment?" He criticized, "The problem with Lee's campaign is that everything feels artificial," and said, "Instead of naturally exposing the candidate's image through his usual behavior, it feels like they forcibly stage it according to political needs at each moment."
Professor Jin also pointed out, "Even the wife's accident is being used as an opportunity to promote the image of a 'caring husband,' which gives a somewhat insincere impression," and added, "Thinking about what they are trying to hide with that insincerity led my imagination to leap to the possibility of domestic violence." He further noted, "The rapid spread of this is due to the deeply rooted violent impression in the public consciousness that 'Lee Jae-myung could very well do that.'"

He wrote, "It seems they are trying to dispel the controversy, but this kind of artificial image production strategy is not only painfully embarrassing to watch but also gives the candidate a negative image of being insincere." Professor Jin concluded, "Promotion should be done with sincerity, not gimmicks. Otherwise, it only backfires."
