Gyeonggi Fire Department Warns Paramedic for Omitting Transport Report of Candidate Lee Jae-myung's Spouse
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters decided to strictly warn the fire station staff who investigated the paramedics dispatched at the time for not reporting the fact that they transported Lee Jae-myung, the spouse of the Democratic Party presidential candidate (Kim Hye-kyung), to the hospital on the 9th.
On the morning of the 12th, the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters confirmed that most of the content in a post on an internet bulletin board stating that employees who transported Lee Jae-myung’s spouse to the hospital and then left work were called to the fire station, investigated for several hours, and reprimanded was true, and announced on the 13th that it would take such measures.
The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters plans to strictly warn the fire station staff who conducted inappropriate procedures regarding the dispatched paramedics and will take disciplinary action if any illegalities are confirmed.
Regarding the transportation of Lee Jae-myung’s spouse to the hospital, the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters explained that some media reports claiming that the fire station was instructed not to disclose the incident details externally were a misunderstanding of a request to be cautious about personal information leakage.
A representative of the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters emphasized, "We will strive to prevent recurrence so that paramedics can focus on field activities."
Earlier, when this fact became known on the 12th, Lee Jae-myung defended the paramedics dispatched at the time through Facebook, saying, "When 119 arrived at my house, I was dressed and did not reveal who we were until the end, so they neither needed to know nor could have known who I was," and added, "So even if there is an obligation to report to '00' personnel, I was not a subject to be reported, so naturally, they did not report."
He also said, "The three young paramedics I saw were excellent public officials," and added, "I was proud to say that they were public officials of Gyeonggi-do, which I commanded until recently."
Meanwhile, after resigning as governor of Gyeonggi-do at the end of last month, Lee Jae-myung did not visit other affiliated organizations but directly visited the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters, showing special affection for the fire department by encouraging employees working in the comprehensive situation room.
