View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Lee Hae-sik, the spouse director of the election campaign committee for Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, disclosed the 119 emergency call records and ambulance logs related to the fall accident of Lee’s spouse, Kim Hye-kyung. This followed the release of CCTV footage from the ambulance on social media earlier that morning. Regarding false information and fake news about Ms. Kim’s accident, he called it a “human rights-violating fabricated illegal election campaign” and stated that they would “take firm action.”
On the 12th, Lee Hae-sik, a Democratic Party lawmaker, held a press conference and cited the ambulance log, saying, “At 12:40 a.m. on November 9, candidate Lee Jae-myung called 119 on his mobile phone to request an ambulance. According to the recording, he explained that his wife was experiencing vomiting and diarrhea symptoms and had a facial laceration, so she needed to go to the emergency room.”
Lee said, “The ambulance arrived at the scene at 1:00 a.m., and the hospital transfer was at 1:31 a.m. The patient evaluation notes in the ambulance log state that the patient was lying down in the room, complaining of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and dizziness, and that swelling and a 2-centimeter laceration were confirmed on the left eye.” He added, “According to the patient, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea symptoms started after lunch on the 8th, and at 10:50 a.m. on the 9th, after vomiting, she lost consciousness and hit the left side of her face and eye during the loss of consciousness.” Lee said, “This is based on materials received from the fire station and hospital with the consent of the candidate and his spouse.”

Shin Hyun-young, a doctor and spokesperson for the Democratic Party’s campaign committee, responded in a back briefing to a question about why the video was not released, saying, “There was ethical concern about whether it was appropriate to reveal the video so explicitly when the patient was in the most vulnerable state.” She added, “The candidate and his spouse agreed to follow the campaign committee’s decision, but from a medical ethics perspective, it was deemed undesirable.”
