Hwasun-gun to Begin 'Additional Vaccinations for Those Aged 75 and Over' Starting the 15th

[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Jeonnam Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 10th that it will conduct additional COVID-19 vaccinations for seniors aged 75 and older from the 15th to the 24th.

The additional vaccination targets are 6,707 seniors aged 75 and older who completed their second dose between May 6 and 25. The vaccines used for the additional dose will be mRNA vaccines (Moderna or Pfizer).

However, those with severe underlying conditions are excluded from vaccination.

Even if residents do not have their registered address in the county, if they actually live in Hwasun, they can receive vaccination at the COVID-19 Vaccination Center (Iyongdae Gymnasium).

The county will survey the willingness for additional vaccination by the 12th and start vaccinations from the 15th.

To ensure safe and prompt additional vaccinations for seniors and to alleviate transportation inconveniences, free shuttle buses will operate from the towns and townships to the vaccination center.

The shuttle buses will run five times a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon starting from the 15th. The county plans to thoroughly monitor adverse reactions after vaccination in cooperation with local community leaders such as women’s association heads.

In May, the county gained nationwide attention by achieving a vaccination rate more than three times the national average through public-private cooperation and a close vaccine promotion system among administrative departments.

A county official said, “As a significant amount of time has passed since the second dose and immunity has waned while the spread of COVID-19 continues, additional vaccination for the elderly is absolutely necessary. We ask all eligible residents, including the elderly, workers in high-risk facilities, and those vaccinated with the Janssen vaccine, to actively participate.”
