Assemblyman Jo Seung-rae Hosts 'International Seminar for a Fair App Ecosystem'
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] As the world's first 'In-App Payment Prevention Act,' which prohibits app market operators such as Google and Apple from forcing their own payment methods, has been passed, stakeholders from around the world are gathering at the National Assembly.
Jo Seung-rae, the ruling party spokesperson of the National Assembly Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting Communications Committee (Democratic Party), announced on the 10th that a 'National Assembly Seminar for the Fairness of the Global App Ecosystem' will be held at 10 a.m. on the 16th in the auditorium of the National Assembly Library.
At this seminar, overseas figures such as C?dric O, Minister of Digital Affairs of France, Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, and Megan Dimuzio, Secretary-General of the U.S. App Fairness Coalition, will attend in person to share experiences and situations from various countries for a fair app ecosystem.
National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seok, Chairman of the Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee Lee Won-wook, Vice Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission Kim Hyun, and Chairman of the Korea Internet Corporations Association Park Seong-ho will deliver congratulatory remarks on-site and via video, while Seo Beom-gang, Chairman of the Korea Webtoon Industry Association, will participate as a designated discussant to present on Korea's legislation and content ecosystem.
