LG CNS Expands AI Education for Disabled Youth View original image

[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] LG CNS has expanded its artificial intelligence (AI) education program ‘AI Genius,’ originally designed for middle and high school students, to special schools. AI Genius is a digital transformation (DX) social contribution program developed by LG CNS to help young people understand and utilize AI technology to nurture their future dreams.

According to LG CNS on the 9th, AI Genius was conducted for students of Seoul Saerom School from the 20th of last month to the 3rd of this month. This was to allow physically disabled youth, who are often excluded from IT education, to experience AI.

The classes were held in three sessions: ‘Learning SW·AI through the Metaverse,’ ‘AI and Art Experience,’ and ‘AI Autonomous Vehicles.’ During the ‘Learning SW·AI through the Metaverse’ session, students created their own avatars and learned AI through games and quizzes in the metaverse space.

In the ‘AI and Art Experience’ session, students composed songs and drew pictures with AI. When students input simple melodies, AI automatically added harmonies to create music, and when students doodled, AI completed impressive drawings. In the ‘AI Autonomous Vehicles’ session, students operated autonomous driving robots and learned the operating principles of autonomous vehicles.

Earlier this year, LG CNS conducted AI Genius for about 3,000 students at 30 middle schools. Leveraging the advantages of non-face-to-face classes, AI education is being provided to middle school students in remote island and rural areas beyond the metropolitan area.

LG CNS is also running the ‘AI Genius Academy’ for high school students. The AI Genius Academy is an intensive one-year advanced program that focuses on AI education from coding training to AI project execution to nurture software talent. For this, about 80 students active in software (SW) clubs at five high schools were selected.

In addition, LG CNS is carrying out various social contribution activities utilizing its DX capabilities. Last year, it was urgently deployed to resolve issues such as the EBS Online Class access failure and, this summer, the overload of the COVID-19 vaccine reservation system, addressing problems arising in IT systems during national IT disaster situations.

An LG CNS official said, "We will continue to expand the beneficiaries so that more young people can receive IT new technology education by utilizing LG CNS’s DX capabilities such as AI and big data."
