Gwangju Dong-gu Hosts 'Online Youth Humanities Golden Bell'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Dong-gu, Gwangju (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 4th that it will hold the 'Online Youth Humanities Golden Bell Contest' on the 6th.
The Online Youth Humanities Golden Bell accepted applications for participation over five days starting from the 18th of last month, targeting six middle schools in the district and out-of-school youth of the corresponding age group, with a total of 22 participants.
This contest will be conducted through the online video channel 'Zoom' and is linked with the online youth humanities classroom operated by Dong-gu, preparing humanities trivia questions aligned with the lecture content and the public education curriculum.
Unlike the traditional survival format, the contest will use a cumulative scoring system so that all participating students can stay engaged until the end to determine the winner. Scholarships will be awarded to eight prize winners.
Mayor Im Taek of Dong-gu said, "Humanities are like a lighthouse that illuminates the direction our students should live by," adding, "Through various youth humanities programs in the humanities city Dong-gu, we hope that young people will grow into mature individuals, and in line with the phased recovery of daily life, we look forward to holding the event in person next year where we can see each other's faces rather than online."
Meanwhile, on the 2nd, Dong-gu signed a business agreement with the Boseong Scholarship Foundation to continuously support scholarships to activate humanities education for youth. The scholarships for the eight winners of this Online Youth Humanities Golden Bell will also be supported through the Boseong Scholarship Foundation.
