KOSPI Narrows Gains in Afternoon... Falls Below 3000 Level

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] As individual investors' net selling volume increases, the KOSPI is narrowing its gains in the afternoon. The KOSDAQ index turned downward due to selling pressure from foreigners and individuals.
At 1:30 PM on the 4th, the KOSPI stood at 2,990.41, up 0.49% (14.70 points) from the previous trading day. The KOSPI opened the day at 3,000.92, up 0.85% (25.21 points) from the previous day, showing gains above 1%, but the increase has been narrowing in the afternoon. Looking at investment trends, individuals alone sold stocks worth 611.1 billion KRW in the market, while foreigners and institutions bought stocks worth 209.2 billion KRW and 392.8 billion KRW, respectively.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics traded at 70,900 KRW (0.71%), with a reduced gain compared to the morning. Following were SK Hynix (1.42%), NAVER (2.61%), Kakao (4.82%), LG Chem (0.38%), Samsung SDI (2.32%), Hyundai Motor (2.64%), and Kia (2%), all closing higher.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index stood at 1,002.15, down 0.28% (2.85 points) from the previous trading day. The KOSDAQ index started the day up 0.76% (7.62 points) at 1,012.62 but soon turned downward and continued its weakness. Looking at investment trends, institutions alone bought stocks worth 30.3 billion KRW, while foreigners and individuals sold stocks worth 42.8 billion KRW and 4.6 billion KRW, respectively.

Among the top market capitalization stocks, Celltrion Healthcare fell 0.36% from the previous day, while Pearl Abyss (-3.05%), Wemade (-11.42%), HLB (-0.94%), Celltrion Pharm (-0.92%), and CJ ENM (-0.24%) showed declines.
