Aekyung Group Establishes New IT Corporation... Begins Digital Transformation
Establishment of 'AKIS' as a Subsidiary of AK Holdings... Considering Electric Vehicle Charging Business
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] AK Holdings, the holding company of Aekyung Group, announced on the 2nd through a disclosure of subsidiary incorporation that it will establish an IT specialized company, AK IS, in which it owns a 50% stake.
AK Holdings held a board meeting on the 26th of last month and resolved the agenda to establish the subsidiary AK IS, and completed the corporate registration on the same day.
Aekyung Group stated that, from the perspective of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management and securing new growth engines, it will incorporate the group’s IT business division into AK Holdings’ subsidiary to strengthen IT capabilities, and pursue various businesses including IT outsourcing, SI (System Integration), and electric vehicle charging business.
Through AK IS, Aekyung Group plans to prepare a new business portfolio and enhance corporate value by focusing on digital new technologies, actively collaborating with external partners, leveraging platform and data bases, and continuously acquiring new external customers. The related new businesses under consideration include Cloud, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Smart Factory, and electric vehicle charging. Additionally, the group plans to secure new revenue opportunities based on its experience in aviation, manufacturing, and airport-related businesses.
To explore the electric vehicle charging business and various IT-related businesses, AK IS signed a business cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) last month with Daeyu Plus, a company specializing in the development and production of transmission and network equipment. They agreed to exchange technologies and information and cooperate to enhance capabilities in various businesses including the entire electric vehicle charging business (charger sales, charging facility operation, etc.), IT outsourcing, and SI (System Integration).
Lee Seok-joo, CEO of AK Holdings, said, "The establishment of AK Holdings’ IT subsidiary marks the beginning of Aekyung Group’s digital transformation as part of RED management." He added, "We will promote new businesses and business efficiency through digital transformation in each business area and workplace, develop information technology systems across the group, optimize work methods through digital infrastructure improvement, and strengthen marketing and sales capabilities through digital channels."
