Magnitude 5.2 Earthquake in Northeast Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan... No Tsunami Warning
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] At around 6:14 a.m. on the 1st, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 occurred 19 km northeast of Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan.
The Japan Meteorological Agency stated that the earthquake's hypocenter depth was approximately 60 km, and there is no concern for a tsunami.
Due to this earthquake, shaking of up to seismic intensity 4 was observed in neighboring Fukushima Prefecture and other areas. Relatively strong tremors were also detected in Tokyo.
The Japan Meteorological Agency's own seismic intensity scale level 4 indicates that electric light cords shake significantly and most people are startled by the tremors.
There have been no reports of damage caused by this earthquake so far.
