Seogwipo Coast Guard Conducts 'Coastal Oil Spill Response Drill' in Preparation for Oil Spill
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Seogwipo Coast Guard Station (Chief Hwang Junhyun) announced that on the 28th at 2 PM, it conducted a 'Civil-Military Joint Coastal Oil Spill Response Drill' at Hwasun Port and Geummorae Beach in Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo City.
This drill, as part of proactive administration, was co-hosted by Seogwipo Coast Guard Station and Seogwipo City, with participation from 11 organizations and groups including Jeju Regional Coast Guard, Jeju Coast Guard Station, Navy 7th Mobile Brigade, Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation, Namjeju Power Plant, and Seogwipo Fisheries Cooperative.
The main training contents focused on participants' on-site experience and included ▲participant safety education ▲rescue of wildlife affected by oil pollution ▲coastal pollution survey operations ▲on-site response methods according to coastal types.
Additionally, the drill emphasized improving response capabilities by involving local organizations and groups that can participate in oil spill response operations in the event of an actual marine pollution accident in the Hwasun area.
A Seogwipo Coast Guard official stated, “Through various drills, we will enhance teamwork between the Coast Guard and local related organizations, groups, and businesses, strengthen organic cooperation systems, and ensure there are no gaps in preparedness for large-scale oil pollution accidents in the Seogwipo area.”
