[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Association (Chairman Oh Ha-geun) announced on the 28th that on the first day of the 124th regular meeting on the 26th, they conducted site visits to major development projects following the administrative audit.
Chairman Oh Ha-geun (a Jeonnam Provincial Assembly member from Suncheon), along with Vice Chairman Lee Jeong-hoon (a Gyeongnam Provincial Assembly member from Hadong), Committee Member Kim Tae-gyun (a Jeonnam Provincial Assembly member from Gwangyang), and Committee Member Lee Gwang-il (a Jeonnam Provincial Assembly member from Yeosu), received reports on the progress and future plans from the implementing agencies and city/county department heads, focusing on understanding the achievements and issues so far.
On that day, the association members visited the starting point of the Gyeongdo Yeonryukgyo Bridge, Seonwol High Park Complex, the planned site for the Yulchon Industrial Complex connecting road, and Daesong Industrial Complex. Regarding the Gyeongdo Yeonryukgyo Bridge site, the members unanimously pointed out the need to seriously scrutinize the matter during this administrative audit. Committee Member Lee Gwang-il requested that representatives of residents be allowed to attend the second regular meeting held on the 27th, as local interest in the Yeonryukgyo Bridge project is high.
Committee Member Kim Tae-gyun urged active efforts to resolve complaints by learning from the problems that occurred during the past development of the Suncheon Shindae District in the Seonwol High Park Complex project, and mentioned that continuous proposals to central government departments are necessary through cooperation with Gwangyang City regarding the Yulchon Industrial Complex connecting road.
Vice Chairman Lee Jeong-hoon ordered that in the progress of the Gyeongdo Yeonryukgyo Bridge project, the voices of each resident be carefully listened to and that communication with the field be further strengthened. He also emphasized that regarding the ground subsidence at Daesong Industrial Complex, the site should be thoroughly inspected and appropriate measures taken within the defect repair period.
Chairman Oh Ha-geun, the head of the audit committee, said, “This site inspection was a meaningful time to visit the projects under review during the audit directly and examine them more closely,” adding, “In particular, we will carefully review the residents’ consent regarding the Gyeongdo Yeonryukgyo Bridge and the public land portion of the Seonwol High Park Complex during this administrative audit.”
