Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education to Pilot Comprehensive Autonomous School Audits
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 20th that it has established the ‘2021 School Autonomous Comprehensive Audit Pilot Operation Plan’ for the purpose of innovating audit administration and will begin implementation in the second half of this year.
The ‘School Autonomous Comprehensive Audit’ is an innovative audit model that departs from the education office-led audit method, allowing schools to independently establish audit plans and carry out dispositions and improvements based on audit results by themselves.
The Office of Education introduced this system to build an autonomous and preventive audit system, realize a democratic school autonomy culture, reduce the burden on schools undergoing audits, and increase the efficiency of audit work.
Since last year, an internal consultative body has been formed to develop the audit innovation model, and by the end of August, a self-audit manual and checklist that school staff can easily use on site were developed.
For the second half of 2021, the Office of Education selected six schools (four elementary and two middle schools) that wished to participate in the comprehensive audit as pilot schools for the School Autonomous Comprehensive Audit.
In addition, to enhance the effectiveness of the pilot operation, pre-training will be conducted for the staff of the pilot schools by the 5th of next month.
The pre-training will provide guidance on the overall operation of the School Autonomous Comprehensive Audit and include education and discussion on how to use and complete the manuals and checklists by category.
Through this pilot operation of the School Autonomous Comprehensive Audit, preparations will be made in advance for the cyber audit infrastructure in anticipation of the launch of the 4th generation NEIS system scheduled for 2023, and efforts to respond to the future-oriented audit paradigm shift will be continuously strengthened.
