Chonnam National University Women's Research Institute Hosts Joint Forum on 'Care Labor'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] The Women's Research Institute at Chonnam National University announced on the 15th that it will hold a forum imagining the paradigm shift of community care after the pandemic on the 21st, jointly with the Gwangju Women's Minwoo Association.
This joint forum will be conducted via ZOOM and will listen to the voices of local care stakeholders regarding the structural inequalities of care and the limitations revealed by facing the COVID-19 pandemic.
It will also reexamine care issues through the characteristics of care labor where social distancing is impossible, and the lives of youth outside family and school.
The discussion will include presentations by Kim Ji-young, Academic Research Professor at Chonnam National University (Women's Research Institute), Chu Joo-hee, HK Research Professor (Institute of Humanities), and Choi Min-seo, activist of the Gwangju Women's Minwoo Association. Participants such as Kim Bo-myung, Professor of Sociology at Pusan National University, and Ryu Hyung-rim, activist of the Korean Women's Minwoo Association, are expected to expand the discourse on the just transition of care in the community, including defamilialization, depersonalization, and de-gendering.
