Yanolja Acquires Interpark with 70% Stake for 294 Billion Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] Leisure platform Yanolja is acquiring Interpark. It is analyzed that Yanolja is actively targeting the global travel market in preparation for the post-COVID-19 era.
On the 14th, Yanolja announced that it will acquire a 70% stake in Interpark's business divisions including travel, performances, shopping, and books for 294 billion KRW. The company explained that this acquisition is significant as part of its strategy to penetrate the overseas travel market, which is currently dominated by global platform companies.
Yanolja and Interpark will actively cooperate to strengthen competitiveness in the domestic and international leisure industries through this acquisition. In particular, Yanolja intends to accelerate its global business expansion starting with the Interpark acquisition. This is to proactively respond to the changes in the overseas travel market, where fierce competition is expected in the post-COVID-19 era. Yanolja is also reviewing various cooperation and support programs to coexist with the domestic travel industry.
Yanolja's global business has been focused on Software as a Service (SaaS). With this acquisition, it is evaluated that Yanolja can secure differentiated competitiveness by linking its SaaS with overseas travel platforms and other services.
