View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim So-young] Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, criticized Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People Party, regarding his presidential candidacy by saying, "Everyone expects him to run," but added, "However, everyone also expects that he will not run until the end."
On the 13th, Lee appeared on TBS Radio's 'Shin Jang-sik's Shin Jang Opening' and responded to the host's question, "People expect Ahn to run for president in October. What do you think?" with this statement.
He explained, "When Ahn previously advocated for a third zone theory and formed a new party, the message was strong: 'I refuse alliances with A and B. We will go with C.' However, since the last general election, Ahn's actions have shown that 'we will not field constituency candidates.' In fact, he has effectively positioned himself as a proportional satellite party."
He continued, "During the Seoul mayoral election, his main campaign message was 'I will become the unified opposition candidate.' The repeated message is, 'I always want to be the unified candidate in the opposition, but I am not confident enough to compete in the primary within the main camp,'" he emphasized.
He then pointed out, "It feels like a secondary party, so I doubt whether it can have the same destructive power as in the last presidential election."
Regarding Lee's remarks, broadcaster Kim Eo-jun analyzed on the 14th on TBS Radio's 'Kim Eo-jun's News Factory' that the term "secondary party" is a highly insulting way of saying that Ahn will be absorbed into the People Power Party's unification.
