View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Kwan-joo] Former Cheonanham Captain Choi Won-il submitted an objection to the investigation and a request for review to the National Police Agency on the 13th, protesting the police investigation results regarding a YouTuber who filed a complaint against him for insult and defamation. The protest was in response to the police referring to the Cheonanham as a "sinking incident" and stating the reason for non-prosecution as an "ongoing case."
On the same day, former Captain Choi and the Cheonanham Veterans Association held a press conference and picket protest in front of the National Police Agency building in Migeun-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, stating, "The President and the government's position on the Cheonanham attack is that it was the work of North Korea, and the judiciary has also confirmed the clear causality of the incident, but the police recorded it as 'sinking' twice and said it is an ongoing case," and added, "They must apologize and explain."
Earlier, in July, former Captain Choi filed a complaint with the police against YouTuber A, who defamed him by calling him a "defeated soldier" and other terms, on charges of insult and defamation. The Seoul Gwangjin Police Station, which investigated the case, decided not to prosecute the defamation charge but forwarded the insult charge to the prosecution.
The reason for non-prosecution disclosed by former Captain Choi states, "Although some parts of the content correspond to excessive expressions, even if it can be considered a statement of specific facts rather than opinions or evaluations, since various hypotheses and debates are ongoing regarding the Cheonanham sinking incident, it cannot be concluded that it was recognized as false information."

Former Captain Choi strongly criticized, saying, "I doubt whether the police collaborated with the Ministry of National Defense, the Navy, or even reviewed the investigation report on the Cheonanham attack incident during the investigation," and asked, "Which country's government do the police belong to?" He also stated that he plans to take legal action if there is no official explanation from the police.
