The Gwangju District Court Criminal Division 22 (Presiding Judge Park Minwoo, in charge of warrants) issued arrest warrants on the 12th for three individuals, including A (19). During the warrant hearing held that day, the court stated the reason for issuing the warrants was "concern over the possibility of flight."
The three are accused of attempting to kill girlfriend B on the night of the 9th around 11 p.m. at a pension near Baegasan in Buk-myeon, Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do, where they had come to hang out together.
According to the Hwasun Police Station, at that time, A told B that he had prepared a special event and suggested she go alone to a spot about 1 km away from the pension to find a hidden gift.
B left the pension alone but reportedly returned because the path to the destination was dark and frightening. However, A insisted, saying "It's an event, so you have to go alone," and sent B back outside.
Unable to resist A's urging, B left the pension again and reached the spot A had mentioned. Instead of a gift, there was C (19), a friend of A, holding a weapon. Upon seeing B, C immediately swung the weapon at her.

Nearby residents who heard B's screams reported the incident to the police. When the police arrived at the scene, they found C hiding in the trunk of a foreign car driven by A while searching for C's whereabouts.
After the incident, B was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment, and A and C were arrested at the scene.
Police investigations revealed that from the beginning, A and the others had targeted B's life insurance money. A, who works as an insurance planner, first met B through a chat application in May and engaged in a fake romantic relationship.
During about five months of dating B, A took out insurance in B's name and designated himself as the beneficiary. After the insurance became effective, he planned the crime with two friends.
However, when C tried to flee during the crime, for unknown reasons, another friend D's car tire was punctured, making it impossible to drive. Ultimately, C lost the means of escape and hid in the trunk of A's car, leading to their discovery by the police.
The reason they attempted to obtain the life insurance money through this planned crime was reportedly to pay off car installments. According to police investigations, A stated, "I committed the crime to pay off installments on a foreign car."
