Black Yak Launches 'Garnet Series' Outdoor Gear Made from Recycled PET Bottles in Korea
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Black Yak announced on the 12th that it will launch the outdoor gear 'Garnet Series,' which uses materials recycled from domestic PET bottles, following clothing and footwear.
Comprising items such as bags, gloves, and hats that are highly useful for hiking, Black Yak's 'Garnet Series' applies various materials developed by recycling domestic PET bottles from the fabric to the filling.
The flagship product, 'Garnet45,' is a large-capacity bag that can be used for various outdoor activities such as hiking and camping. The air mesh material on the back panel, which helps release heat, is made from domestically collected PET bottles, combining eco-friendliness and functionality. The smaller bags, 'Garnet25' and 'Garnet20,' can be freely used not only for hiking but also in daily life.
There is also the 'Garnet Glove,' developed using recycled domestic PET bottles as filling. The inside of the glove uses velboa fabric, adding warmth along with eco-friendly filling, and its three-finger structure makes it easy to use the thumb and index finger during outdoor activities.
Additionally, the 'Garnet Hip Sack' and 'Garnet Bucket Hat' were introduced. Black Yak is also holding the 'Plustic' exhibition, where products made from recycled domestic PET bottles, including the Garnet Series, can be seen in one place. 'Plustic' is a coined term combining 'plus' and 'plastic,' meaning eco-friendly materials.
A Black Yak official said, "The Garnet Series can play a role in informing that various materials developed by recycling domestic PET bottles can be applied not only to clothing but also to functional outdoor gear."

Meanwhile, along with the launch of the Garnet Series, Black Yak released the 'Plustic' video featuring brand models IU and Kai. In the released video, IU and Kai wear fleece jackets made from recycled domestic PET bottles, conveying the message that discarded PET bottles can become comfortable and soft clothing, adding a plus to the Earth.
