Korea Data Industry Promotion Agency Designated as Pseudonymized Information Integration Specialist Institution
Designated by the Ministry of Science and ICT on the 6th
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] Korea Data Agency (KDATA) announced on the 7th that it was designated as a pseudonymized information linkage specialized institution by the Ministry of Science and ICT on the 6th.
A linkage specialized institution safely links pseudonymized information held by different personal information processors to support anonymization and pseudonymization so that specific individuals cannot be identified. The designation period for the agency is from October 6, 2021, to October 5, 2024.
The agency met all seven designation requirements in the areas of organization and personnel, space and facilities, systems and security, policies and procedures, and finance as stipulated in the "Notice on the Linkage and Export of Pseudonymized Information".
Since March last year, the agency has been operating a data safe zone, a data analysis space. Currently, the data safe zone provides over 60 types of private and public unopened data across more than 10 fields including finance, distribution, and healthcare, along with data analysis tools and high-performance analysis infrastructure.
Min Ki-young, president of the agency, said, "We will strive to discover various pilot cases of linkage between different industries and institutions to promote the use and spread of pseudonymized information, which is the core of the amendment to the Data 3 Laws (Personal Information Protection Act, Information and Communications Network Act, Credit Information Protection Act)." He added, "As a specialized public institution in the data field, we will promote safe linkage and utilization of pseudonymized information to contribute to economic value creation through various innovative services and technology development."
