Park Yong-jin: "Daejang-dong is a Bad News for Everyone... Not Lee Jae-myung but the Democratic Party Will Die"
"The fundamental anger of the people over land is not a party issue"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] Park Yong-jin, a member of the Democratic Party and a presidential candidate, said regarding the 'Daejang-dong development preferential treatment suspicion,' "If the situation arises where 'Candidate Lee Jae-myung must take full responsibility,' it won't be Lee Jae-myung but the Democratic Party that will be completely destroyed."
On the night of the 6th, in an interview with CBS Radio's 'Hanpan Seungbu,' Park stated, "This is not a matter of ruling or opposition parties but a fundamental issue of anger that the people have, an issue concerning land."
He clearly said, "When asked whether the Daejang-dong issue is a favorable or unfavorable factor, I firmly believe it is an unfavorable factor for all of us, for both ruling and opposition parties."
He continued, "It is still too early to fully define this case," but added, "All those involved must be arrested. In my view, the prosecution is still dragging its feet," and criticized, "The prosecution's worst attitude is not investigating based on what is visible but investigating only what they want to see. How can the prosecution of the Republic of Korea claim they couldn't even seize one cellphone during a search?"
He further said, "As someone who has been subject to investigation under the Assembly and Demonstration Act, I cannot accept this," and raised his voice, "During such cases, the prosecution would swiftly crack down and investigate, but now they say the cellphone was thrown out the window and they still don't know who picked it up. How can we believe such a statement?"
Park said, "If the prosecution continues like this, it will be pushed toward a special prosecutor as demanded by the opposition," and expressed concern, "That should not happen. I want the prosecution to be summarized in 16 characters as 'rooting out corrupt forces, wiping out all kinds of corruption' and proceed accordingly."
Regarding the special prosecutor demanded by the opposition, he said, "They want to drag this out until the presidential election, but it should not go that far," and criticized, "That's why they want it done quickly, but it seems the prosecution is controlling the speed of the investigation."
He added, "I can only think that the clueless prosecution is smiling, thinking 'We have a lot to do during the presidential election phase,'" and urged, "It is right to investigate quickly, conclude quickly, and wrap it up."
Regarding the Blue House's position of 'watching strictly,' he said, "They should not just watch strictly. As I said earlier, we must push forward with 'rooting out corrupt forces, wiping out all kinds of corruption.' This is not the time to think about whether it will be advantageous politically to the ruling or opposition parties."
