Gmarket Surpasses 100,000 Members in 'Smile Club Biz'
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Gmarket announced on the 5th that its business member-exclusive membership service, 'Smile Club Biz,' has surpassed 100,000 cumulative members.
This milestone was reached just four months after the new service launched in May. The company evaluated that the service has settled as a "premium membership for business owners," contributing to the activation of business-to-business (B2B) transactions.
According to Gmarket, as of September, 43% of all business buyers on Gmarket were using Smile Club Biz. This means that 2 out of 5 business owners are enjoying the benefits of the premium membership.
The industry most actively subscribing to the membership was identified as "IT & Office." Among all Smile Club Biz members, the IT & Office sector accounted for 16%, the highest proportion. The company analyzed that members joined the membership seeking benefits that help reduce actual expenses, as they need to purchase various items such as stationery and pantry beverages relatively frequently. Other sectors with high subscription rates were distribution & convenience stores (12%), education (11%), medical (8%), and restaurants (5%).
The most purchased items by Smile Club Biz members were stationery and office supplies, including writing instruments, office paper, and memo pads. Other frequently traded categories included ▲coffee & beverages ▲daily necessities ▲processed foods ▲kitchen and household goods.
Since joining Smile Club Biz, the average purchase volume has also increased by about 20% compared to before joining.

Smile Club Biz offers a monthly coupon pack worth approximately 90,000 KRW, weekly 50% half-price discounts, and exclusive deals for business members. It provides a 100 KRW deal as a welcome gift and has continuously expanded benefits, such as changing the annual membership fee policy from free for one year at launch to free for life starting last September.
