A College Student Who Forgot Their Bus Card Told "Just Ride"... A Good Samaritan Receives a Tumbler and Handwritten Letter in Return
"Though It Was a Difficult Daily Life, I Received Much Comfort from the Driver's Good Deeds... Thankful"
[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] A heartwarming story has recently come to light about a university student who sent a letter and dozens of tumblers to a bus company to express gratitude to a bus driver who gave them a free ride.
According to the Facebook page 'Uijeongbu Instead Delivered,' around 11 p.m. on the 22nd of last month, university student A boarded bus number 23 heading toward Mallak-dong at Uijeongbu Station in Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province, to go home.
At the time, A realized late that they had forgotten their transportation card when trying to pay the bus fare. They explained the situation to the bus driver and said they would get off at the next stop.
However, upon understanding the situation, the bus driver said, "Just get on," and let A ride without paying. Thanks to the driver's kindness, A was able to arrive home safely that day.
Later, A did not forget their gratitude toward the bus driver and sent the unpaid bus fare along with 30 tumblers and a handwritten letter to the bus company.
In the letter, A wrote, "During the Chuseok holiday, I had many things to do and couldn't spend time with my family. I was going through a difficult time myself, and the driver's kindness was a great comfort to me. I am thankful." They added, "Please always drive safely, and thank you for being with everyone at the start and end of their day."
Netizens who read the story responded with comments such as, "The world is still worth living in. Good things always follow good deeds. Both of you will be blessed," "This story makes me believe that good deeds will eventually bring better things," "The driver's kindness is beautiful, and the student who repaid that kindness is admirable," and "The world is still warm."
