October Arrived but No Response from North Korea... No Communication Line Call on 1st
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of North Korea, announced a policy to restore the communication hotline in early October, but the North has still not responded to our side's contact attempts.
The Ministry of Unification stated on the 1st at 9 a.m. that the initial call at the Inter-Korean Joint Liaison Office did not take place.
Our side is attempting to make calls to the North twice daily, at 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Although the two Koreas agreed to restore the inter-Korean communication hotline at the end of July, the North has not responded to our contact attempts, citing the joint South Korea-U.S. military exercises in early August as the reason.
