View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] Professor Seo-min from Dankook University College of Medicine recounted an anecdote about the late former Commander of the Defense Security Command, Lee Jae-su, who died during a prosecution investigation, and asserted, "If there is a regime change, let's ensure that the left-wing cannot hold power for at least a hundred years. That alone is the way for our country to survive."
On the 30th, Professor Seo shared on his blog a story about a phone call with the late commander's brother, tagging it with hashtags '#MoonJaeinSorryThankYou' and '#EndedLeftWingRule'.
He explained, "Yoon Seok-youl, who rose to become a presidential candidate by fulfilling the role that the people expect from prosecutors, also has some regrets. One of them was the excessive investigation into the late commander. He was investigated on charges that he ordered the Defense Security Command to spy on the Sewol ferry victims' families."
Regarding the late commander's death, he implied that both the government and Yoon Seok-youl, then the head of the Central District Prosecutors' Office and now a presidential pre-candidate for the People Power Party, cannot easily evade responsibility.
Professor Seo stated, "The Sewol ferry incident was a large-scale disaster involving over 200,000 personnel from the army, navy, and air force. It was perfectly natural for the Defense Security Command to be dispatched to assess the situation on site. Nevertheless, the prosecution thoroughly investigated not only the commander but also those around him," adding, "In January, the special investigation team announced that the Defense Security Command had never followed the bereaved families, nor conducted wiretapping or hacking. The excessive investigation by the prosecution, under the regime's orders, drove a true soldier to death."
He continued, "Although the Moon administration was the main culprit behind the deaths of many, it is inevitable that Yoon Seok-youl, who was the head of the Central District Prosecutors' Office at the time, cannot escape criticism for over-investigation. It is natural that the bereaved families view him unfavorably."
Regarding the prosecution's act of handcuffing the late commander and placing him on the photo line, he said, "The commander felt wronged, saying, 'Being handcuffed and broadcast live turned me into a criminal in an instant.' Four days later, on December 3, 2018, he ended his life by jumping from a friend's officetel, leaving behind a will that said, 'I will bear everything. I hope everyone will be treated leniently.'"

Professor Seo also directly criticized the political sphere. He said, "As seen with Kim Dae-up and the 'Gwangwoo-bbung' incident, the history of the Korean left has been a saga of lies and agitation, a grand fraud. I do not expect them to engage in honest policy debates during the presidential election," and added, "However, those who concoct cruel scenarios like 'Julie' and fabricate fake notebooks to defame the deceased do not deserve to be called human."
