"Average Monthly Salary per Employee Increased 3.6 Times Over 5 Years"
[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] Democratic Party lawmaker Ko Min-jung claimed that the average monthly salary of employees at Hwacheon Daeyu, the real estate development company behind the Daejang-dong project, reached 18.04 million KRW last year.
On the 29th, Ko, a member of the National Assembly's Health and Welfare Committee, announced that after analyzing the data on "Hwacheon Daeyu health insurance premium payments and number of subscribers" received from the National Health Insurance Service, the average monthly salary per Hwacheon Daeyu employee increased approximately 3.6 times over the past five years.
According to the data, Hwacheon Daeyu's average monthly salary per person before tax by year was ▲499 million KRW in 2015 ▲532 million KRW in 2016 ▲591 million KRW in 2017 ▲8.09 million KRW in 2018 ▲13.46 million KRW in 2019 ▲18.04 million KRW in 2020.
This was calculated by dividing Hwacheon Daeyu's health insurance premium payments by the number of employees (subscribers), and is an estimate made by simply dividing without considering job titles or ranks.
Ko's office emphasized, "This amount is 4.7 times higher than the pre-tax monthly salary of 3.83 million KRW disclosed by Gwak Sang-do's son, who became controversial for receiving a retirement bonus of 5 billion KRW from Hwacheon Daeyu."
They added, "Although salaries vary depending on company profits and job ranks, it is natural for the public to have suspicions about Hwacheon Daeyu employees receiving salaries comparable to professionals. The actual salary amount received by Gwak's son must also be thoroughly investigated," raising their voice.

Meanwhile, Gwak's son, Mr. Gwak, disclosed that he joined Hwacheon Daeyu in June 2015 and received 2.33 million KRW monthly until February 2018, 3.33 million KRW from March to September 2018, and 3.83 million KRW until January of this year.
