Gwangju Shinsegae's Eco-Friendly Material 'Plix Jacket' Gains Popularity
[Asia Economy Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Gwangju Shinsegae announced on the 29th that fleece jackets made from eco-friendly materials are gaining popularity.
First, Patagonia on the basement level 1 of the new building is showcasing the ‘Pile Fleece Collection’ made from 100% recycled polyester high-pile fleece material.
These products are made not only using fabric recycled from PET bottles but also by rebirthing Patagonia products that have reached the end of their lifespan, enhancing softness and durability.
The North Face has launched the ‘K-Eco Fleece Collection’ applying PET bottle recycling materials. The representative product, the ‘Play Green Fleece Jacket,’ features a semi-loose fit silhouette and a two-way zipper on the front closure, allowing styling as desired.
K2 implemented sustainable fashion by releasing the ‘WWF Bichon Flare Jacket’ in collaboration with the global nature conservation organization WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature).
In addition, several brands such as Black Yak, Nepa, and Kolon Sport have joined the ranks of ‘Good Fleece,’ participating in eco-friendliness by utilizing discarded plastics.
A Gwangju Shinsegae outdoor official said, “Due to the characteristics of the material, fleece is light and warm, establishing itself as an essential item for autumn and winter. As awareness of environmental pollution increases, products focusing on the environment and sustainability are gaining attention.” He added, “Especially with the MZ generation emerging as the main consumer base, the trend of ‘value consumption’ considering the environment is spreading, and demand for eco-friendly clothing is increasing.”
