[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Bo-ryeong] The presidential candidates of the People Power Party raised their voices in criticism against Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung over the so-called 'Daejang-dong development scandal' even during the Chuseok holiday.
On the 19th, former Jeju Governor Won Hee-ryong pointed out on Facebook, "The Daejang-dong development was said to be a model public interest project, but suddenly it's an opposition party gate?" and asked, "Is Lee Jae-myung from the opposition party?"
Former Governor Won continued, "Lee, who frequently filed lawsuits and complaints, only engages in verbal disputes regarding the Daejang-dong allegations, which feels awkward," emphasizing, "He usually executes administration without mercy, so it is questionable why he responds cautiously and individually only to certain remarks about the Daejang-dong allegations."
He also added, "If you claim it is an opposition party gate, then boldly demand a state audit or special prosecutor investigation like the People Power Party. Didn't Lee also agree 100% to the investigation?" and said, "The public will judge that those who refuse this demand have something to hide."
On the same day, Representative Hong Joon-pyo also wrote on Facebook, "Seeing Lee Jae-myung insist that the Hwacheon Daeyu Daejang-dong development corruption case is a People Power Party gate and trying to pin it on the opposing party, I cannot shake the feeling that this shamelessness has been the driving force behind today's Lee Jae-myung," criticizing, "It is exactly the same way he responds to the free love scandal."
Representative Hong said, "Anyone can see that case is the Lee Jae-myung gate," and questioned, "Since Seongnam City was the main subject of the corrupt development in that case, how could the lawyer impersonating a bachelor living in Seongnam not have known about it?"
He then said, "If you are confident, demand a special prosecutor investigation in the National Assembly yourself," adding, "You may be able to endure now with that typical shamelessness of just getting through the Chuseok public sentiment and the Honam primary, but it won't last long. Public sentiment is the will of heaven."

On the same day, Lee's election campaign committee claimed, "It is being revealed one after another that real estate developers aiming for a big hit through development projects and current and former People Power Party officials who smelled money are involved in the Daejang-dong development project," asserting, "The Daejang-dong case is a People Power Party gate where corrupt forces within the party and construction capitalists lost the real estate development rights but reappeared under the guise of financial institutions."
