On the 16th, a post titled "Scooter self-injury extortion? Please help" along with a video was uploaded on Bobaedream, an online community specializing in vehicles.
The video shows Mr. A passing through an alley around 7 a.m. on the 7th. After making a right turn in the alley, he encounters a scooter rider coming from the opposite direction. Startled by the car, the scooter rider falls forward, and the driver checks on the rider’s condition from the car.
Mr. A, the author, explained, "I think I was a victim of self-injury extortion," adding, "If you look at the black box footage, I was driving normally and stopped immediately when I saw the scooter rider right after turning the corner. I did not hit him at all, and I was about 3 to 4 meters away from the scooter rider."

Mr. A continued, "The problem is that the scooter rider suddenly braked when he saw my car and fell, but then reported me for hit-and-run," expressing his frustration, "I did not hit the scooter rider with my car, and I even got out to ask if he was okay."
He added, "What’s more absurd is that I was called to the police station for this incident, and the officer in charge said that I should have driven slower or stopped, but I didn’t, so the scooter rider was startled and the accident happened," and said, "I paid a fine of 40,000 won. The insurance company’s opinion was 60:40 fault, with me being 60% at fault."
Regarding the large fault assigned to him despite driving slowly, Mr. A said, "If I hadn’t reduced my speed, how could I have stopped in time?" He also said, "I was very flustered that day and handled the personal injury claim first. My insurance company said it would have been better if I had reported to the police first, but since the other party reported me for hit-and-run first, I became the offender," expressing his frustration.
Mr. A also said, "The scooter rider is demanding not only medical expenses but also compensation for AirPods in his bag that were damaged by the impact when he fell," and asked, "Do I really have to pay for all of this? Is this right?"
