Kim Byung-nae, Mayor of Gwangju Nam-gu, Files Complaints Against Two for Spreading False Information
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Kim Byeong-nae, mayor of Nam-gu, Gwangju, filed a complaint with the police against two Nam-gu residents for spreading false information.
According to Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, on the 8th, Mayor Kim filed a complaint with the Nambu Police Station on the 6th, accusing two residents of defamation.
Mayor Kim first became aware that malicious content was being circulated through reports from those around him.
The two residents reportedly made personal attacks against Mayor Kim’s family and claimed that he was involved in real estate speculation.
They are not affiliated with any specific civic groups and are known to have no political background.
A Nam-gu official explained, "With the local elections coming up next year, we were concerned that agitation or rumors could cause confusion, so we filed the complaint in advance to prevent this."
The police plan to ascertain the exact facts based on the contents of the complaint.
