Jeonbuk Province Leads Smart Farming Sites with Drone Pest Control!

[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonbuk Province is focusing on smart drone pest control to address labor shortages caused by rural aging and to support the early settlement of young farmers.

On the 7th, Jeonbuk Province held a drone aerial pest control demonstration meeting at Seungbangtteul, Gamgok-myeon, Jeongeup City, attended by about 30 people including Governor Song Ha-jin, Kim Cheol-soo, Chairman of the Agricultural Industry and Economy Committee of the Jeonbuk Provincial Council, and the young farmers' drone pest control team.

At the demonstration meeting, drone pest control technology, safety education, and research technologies to date were exhibited, and a drone aerial pest control demonstration was conducted on a 7,933㎡ paddy field.

Jeonbuk Province is pilot-operating a young farmers' drone agricultural work support team by selecting 10 people who have obtained drone licenses in two locations, Jeongeup City and Imsil County, to help young farmers settle early and to replace the labor shortage caused by rural aging.

The province explained that in the current situation where pests and diseases are spreading after the rice ears have emerged due to the autumn monsoon caused by recent abnormal weather, pest control using drones can increase effectiveness by enabling rapid and precise pest control in a short time, and it is a good means to make difficult agricultural work easier.

Governor Song Ha-jin said, “The future of Samrak Agriculture and Jeonbuk agriculture lies with young farmers,” and added, “Please make efforts to ensure that new technologies suitable for the digital agriculture era are quickly disseminated to the farming sites.”
