Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Holds Launch Ceremony for 'Blue Sky Day' Climate Crisis Network
Online Launch Ceremony on Metaverse Platform Gather Town
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will hold the launch ceremony of the 'Climate Crisis Response Action 365 Network,' involving teachers, students, parents, and citizens, on the 7th in celebration of 'Blue Sky Day.'
The launch ceremony will be held online using the metaverse platform 'Gather Town.' The Climate Crisis Response Action 365 Network, consisting of about 650 teachers, 230 students, and 300 parents, will carry out climate action and ecological campaigns that consider everything from local communities to the Earth. In the second part of the ceremony, a special lecture on citizen environmental movements and zero waste will be conducted.
From this day, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will operate a virtual exhibition space within Gather Town for ecological transition education and climate change response educational materials for two months. Teachers, students, and parents can enter via the internet and view the exhibition in the virtual space.

Blue Sky Day is the first official commemorative day proposed and adopted by South Korea among the United Nations' official observances. Its official name is the 'International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies.' The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education is also conducting a 'Blue Sky Certification Campaign' until the end of this month, where students, parents, citizens, and education office staff can certify photos of blue skies and write a brief comment.
