Samsung's Next-Generation Tablet 'Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra' to Use In-House Chipset
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Samsung Electronics' next-generation tablet PC 'Galaxy Tab S8' series is expected to be released in three models, and among them, the Ultra model is also expected to be released with Samsung's own chipset, the Exynos SoC version.
According to IT media PhoneArena on the 6th (local time), the 'Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra' model is expected to use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 898 chipset as well as Samsung's own Exynos 2200 chipset.
PhoneArena predicted that Samsung might adopt the approach used for its flagship smartphones, using Snapdragon chips for products intended for North America and China, and Exynos chips for other regions. According to benchmark scores, the Exynos 2200 is expected to be on par with the M1 chip used in the latest iPad Pro models.
The Tab S8 series is expected to be released in three models: the 'Galaxy Tab S8', the 'Galaxy Tab S8 Plus (+)', and the Tab S8 Ultra. The previous 'Galaxy Tab S7' series consisted of two models: the basic model and the Plus model.
The newly added Ultra model is expected to target demand from users who prefer large screens by applying a 14.6-inch large display. The screen is expected to feature an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display with a 120Hz refresh rate and support for the S Pen. Additionally, it is reported to be equipped with up to 12GB of RAM, 512GB of storage capacity, and a 12,000mAh battery.
Meanwhile, the basic and Plus models are expected to maintain the same sizes as their predecessors. The Tab S8+ supports a 12.4-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor and quad speakers. The battery capacity is 10,090mAh. The Tab S8 features an 11-inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, supports the S Pen and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. The battery capacity is 8,000mAh.
