Wanju-gun Secures 12.3 Billion KRW Budget for Samnye and Soyang Sewerage Maintenance
[Wanju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Wanju-gun announced that it has secured a budget of 12.3 billion KRW for sewage system maintenance in Samnye-eup and Soyang-myeon, which will improve the quality of life for residents.
The secured budget includes 3 billion KRW for the renovation project of aging sewage pipelines in Samnye and 9.3 billion KRW for the expansion project of the Soyang public sewage treatment plant.
Following the Ministry of Environment's 'Manual for Precise Investigation of Sewage Pipelines to Respond to Ground Subsidence,' Wanju-gun plans to renovate 3.1 km of urgently needed repairs out of 22.7 km of sewage pipelines over 20 years old in the Samnye area, along with 1,123 manholes.
Upon completion of the maintenance, it is expected to prevent safety accidents as well as flooding and improve odor issues.
Additionally, Wanju-gun will proceed with the expansion of the Soyang public sewage treatment plant.
Once the construction is completed, the Soyang public sewage treatment plant will be able to treat 1,400 cubic meters of sewage per day, up from the current 800 cubic meters per day.
In particular, residents currently using septic tanks will be able to connect directly to the public sewage treatment facility to process domestic wastewater, which is expected to greatly improve living conditions by eliminating odors and pests.
An official from the Wanju-gun Water and Sewage Business Office said, "Although securing the budget was not easy due to COVID-19, we succeeded through continuous persuasion. Since sewage system improvements are closely related to residents' daily lives, we will make every effort to ensure the successful implementation of the project."
