'Clean Air International Forum' to be Held in Suwon
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The 'Clean Air International Forum' will be held in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 3rd that it will hold the '2021 Clean Air International Forum' at the Suwon Convention Center on the 6th.
Co-hosted by Gyeonggi Province and the United Nations Environment Programme Asia-Pacific Regional Office (UNEP-ROAP), this forum will be held for four days until the 9th under the theme "Clean Air in East Asia, Lighting a Blue Future. ON-AIR."
The forum will be attended online by about 500 participants including environmental experts from 13 countries, officials from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) international organizations, local governments in East Asia (such as Kawasaki, Japan, and Indonesia), academia, and residents of the province.
The opening event will feature the "Air Quality Awareness Forum," involving international organizations such as UNEP, providing a time to share overseas international cooperation measures on air quality and domestic management policy cases.
The province expects this forum to be an event that strengthens the perception of the "East Asia Breathing Community" by sharing cases caused by fine dust generation and movement, successful improvement policy cases, and exploring cooperation measures with neighboring East Asian countries.
Park Seong-nam, Director of the Provincial Environment Bureau, evaluated, "The '2021 Clean Air International Forum,' the third since 2018, is significant as it is a place where international organizations, local governments in East Asia, academia, and citizens come together to seek cooperation measures to solve the fine dust problem."
He added, "We will strive to ensure that Gyeonggi Province's air management policies are internationally recognized at this forum," and "We will build international cooperation through continuous exchanges with the Asia-Pacific Clean Air Partnership (APCAP)."
