'Yoon Prosecution, Alleged Commissioned Accusation Reported by Opposition'... Kim Woong "Not at All"'
[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] Kim Woong, a member of the People Power Party, expressed his stance of "not at all true" regarding reports that the prosecution attempted to have him file complaints against ruling party politicians during Yoon Seok-yeol's tenure as Prosecutor General.
On the 2nd, Kim stated in a message sent to reporters, "At that time, there were numerous tips received by Kim Woong's office, and the materials received were naturally forwarded to the party's legal support team."
On the same day, the online media Newsbus reported that ahead of the April 15 general election last year, the prosecution was confirmed to have instructed the United Future Party (the predecessor of the People Power Party) to file criminal complaints against politicians from the ruling party. It was alleged that complaints were made by the opposition party regarding defamation damages suffered by former Prosecutor General Yoon, his wife Kim Kun-hee, and Prosecutor Han Dong-hoon due to reports such as the so-called 'prosecutor-media collusion.'
Kim explained, "To protect the identity of the informants, all received chat windows were deleted, so it is currently unclear whether I received the problematic documents or from whom," but added, "However, if the materials were tips, forwarding them to the party is not problematic at all."
He also said, "Although the article claims it was a commissioned complaint, that is completely untrue," and added, "At that time, our party did not file complaints regarding damages suffered by Kim Kun-hee or Prosecutor Han Dong-hoon, and I have never publicly discussed those matters."

Kim continued, "If it were a commissioned complaint, the party should have filed it or I should have raised the issue," and said, "Political parties and lawmakers are subjects of public interest reporting, and portraying such public interest reports as commissioned complaints discourages whistleblowing, which is deeply regrettable."
