View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Pusan National University announced the cancellation of admission for A, the daughter of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, to the medical school, revealing that the university had announced A's academic records differently from the actual ones. In response, the campaign team of Choi Jae-hyung, a presidential candidate from the People Power Party and former head of the Board of Audit and Inspection, criticized it as "a lie by Pusan National University for Cho Kuk and A."
Jang Dong-hyuk, media spokesperson for Choi Jae-hyung's campaign, pointed out in a statement on the 1st, "Last week, Pusan National University canceled the admission of A, the daughter of former Minister Cho, to the medical school. They also added an explanation that A's excellent grades and the forged certificates and career records were not major factors for acceptance."
He continued, "They even kindly explained that A's university grades ranked 3rd among the applicants. As a result, a 'sympathy theory' for A emerged," adding, "More than 300,000 people agreed on the Blue House petition."
Spokesperson Jang criticized, "This announcement is very different from the court ruling. The grades were not 3rd but 24th," and said, "The court stated that if it were not for the forged certificates and false career records, A might have been eliminated in the first stage of the screening. Anyone can see that Pusan National University deliberately lied for former Minister Cho and his daughter A."
He also questioned, "Pusan National University's response that it was a simple mistake by the staff only angers the public more," asking, "Is it a mistake to confuse 3rd place with 24th place, not 23rd or 24th? Is the unnecessary explanation that the forged certificates did not affect acceptance also a mistake? Is telling the truth about former Minister Cho considered 'blasphemy'?"
Furthermore, he said, "No matter how much they try to hide it, the court will reveal all the truth," adding, "The discovery of truth is now nearing its end. At the end of that is the end of this administration. This is exactly why the fervent supporters cannot let go of Cho Kuk."
Earlier, Park Hong-won, Vice President of Education at Pusan National University, announced the cancellation of A's admission to the medical school on the 24th of last month, stating, "In the document evaluation, A ranked 19th out of 30 who passed the first document screening. Her university grades ranked 3rd, and her official English test scores ranked 4th."
He added, "A's passing of the document screening seems to have been largely influenced by her university grades and official English test scores rather than the use of false credentials in the document evaluation."
However, contrary to Pusan National University's announcement, it was revealed that A's actual university grade ranking was 24th, not 3rd. Regarding this, Pusan National University stated that there appeared to be an error during the analysis of data by the Admission Fairness Management Committee (Fairness Committee).
