The city announced on the 31st that it will implement the "Traditional Market Ontong Daejeon Additional Cashback Support Project" starting from the 1st of next month.
The additional cashback support targets about 2,000 stores in 33 traditional markets in the Daejeon area. These stores are those that expressed their intention to participate in the event during the city's preliminary demand survey, while stores in shopping districts are excluded from the project.
The project is scheduled to run until the end of December and may end early if the budget is exhausted.
The city plans to focus on strengthening the competitiveness of traditional markets and revitalizing the old downtown commercial districts through this project.
Ko Hyun-deok, Director of the Job and Economy Bureau of the city, said, "Ontong Daejeon is becoming an essential daily necessity for all Daejeon citizens, beyond just a simple local currency function. In particular, this project is expected to serve as a catalyst to alleviate the regional consumption imbalance that has been raised so far and to support balanced growth between the old and new downtown areas."
Meanwhile, starting next month, the city will also offer a benefit of supporting a delivery fee of 3,000 KRW per order when ordering over 10,000 KRW on the Ontong Daejeon delivery platform.
The delivery platform "Bureusim" automatically discounts 3,000 KRW at payment, while "Whiparam" issues a 3,000 KRW coupon or accumulates 3,000 points.
