The Day After the Paralympics... Japan Adds More Areas to COVID-19 State of Emergency
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] The Japanese government issued an additional COVID-19 state of emergency on the 25th, the day after the opening of the Tokyo Paralympics.
Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga announced at the COVID-19 task force meeting held that evening that a state of emergency would be additionally declared in eight prefectures, including Hokkaido, Miyagi, Gifu, and Hiroshima.
With this, a total of 21 areas, including the previously declared regions such as Tokyo and Osaka, have been placed under a state of emergency aimed at suppressing population movement.
The additional state of emergency areas will be in effect from the 27th of this month until the 12th of next month.
