Awarding Active Public Officials for Building Next-Generation Budgeting System
Ministry of Economy and Finance Awards '2021 2nd Active Administration Best Practices'
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Ministry of Economy and Finance announced on the 23rd that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Hong Nam-ki presented the '2021 2nd Active Administration Excellence Awards.'
Among 40 excellent case candidates, the Active Administration Committee members, including Lee Ok-won, the 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, six director-level officials, and eight civilian committee members, along with the public, selected three cases for the Active Administration Star Award.
The Active Administration Star Award was given to the establishment of the next-generation budget formulation support system, the private sector-led youth software (SW) talent development project, and the payment of export receivables of Korean companies using frozen Iranian funds domestically and the payment of Iran's UN contributions.
This year, in addition to the three Active Administration Star cases, three IN Star cases and two Beautiful Challenge Awards were newly established.
In particular, two cases that received high public evaluation?securing emergency funds for additional vaccine purchases using global surplus funds and the integrated subscription of aviation insurance for national institutions?were awarded the 'Beautiful Challenge Award.'
Recipients of the Active Administration Excellence Awards will be provided incentives such as prize money and trophies, reward leave, and the highest grade and additional points in performance evaluations.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance plans to select the 3rd Active Administration Star and IN Star in October. At the end of the year, an 'Active Administration Competition' will be held where employees will directly select the 'Best of the Best' cases based on the cases selected so far.
