Wanju-gun Confirms Five Key Directions for Discovering New Projects in 2023

[Wanju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Wanju County has set five major directions for securing the national budget in 2023 and decided to focus on achieving the 2022 national budget target of 500 billion KRW.

According to Wanju County on the 23rd, the 'Five Major Directions for Discovering New Projects in 2023' that it independently prepared are: △projects aligned with government policies such as national agendas △projects linked to Jeonbuk provincial government's core strategies △projects related to the 7th term of the elected mayor's pledges △projects for improving residents' quality of life and balanced development △projects to revitalize local industries linked to public institutions relocated to the Innovation City.

In particular, they placed as the top priority among the five directions the discovery of new projects linked to the Korean New Deal 2.0 and Jeonbuk-type New Deal, which respond to the post-COVID-19 era, believing that this will enable sustainable securing of the national budget.

Accordingly, Wanju County plans to submit the status of newly discovered national budget projects for 2023 by the first round by the 8th of next month and to proactively and comprehensively promote the process, including holding a discovery reporting meeting chaired by Wanju County Governor Park Seong-il.

Additionally, they intend to supplement or further specify previously discovered projects to strategize them, and to newly discover projects suitable for Wanju’s local conditions by analyzing major plans from higher authorities such as the government and Jeonbuk Province.

To this end, they will thoroughly analyze various research service materials from the past five years, including SOC national plans, regional mid- to long-term comprehensive plans, and Jeonbuk Province comprehensive plans, to select projects that will help in the 'Discovery of New National Budget Projects for 2023.'

Meanwhile, Wanju County secured 362.3 billion KRW in the national budget for the following year right after the launch of the 7th term of the elected mayor in 2018, followed by 416.5 billion KRW in 2020, and 451.3 billion KRW this year, totaling 1.2301 trillion KRW over the past three years.
